The heir to the British throne was the co-pilot as part of a four-man crew of the RAF Sea King which affected the rescue. The crew winched the 52-year-old patient aboard and flew him to shore and a waiting ambulance.

A spokesman for the Prince said he "is pleased to finally be able to contribute to the life-saving work of the search and rescue force."

Flt. Lt. Wales and the rest of C Flight 22 Squadron were scrambled Saturday afternoon, according to The Mirror newspaper. They arrived at the drilling platform in about 30 minutes.
