Seacor Becomes US Launch Partner
Agusta Aerospace Corporation says
Seacor Holdings Inc., an international provider of marine
transportation services to the offshore oil and gas industry and
parent of Tex-Air Helicopters, has placed an order for three Agusta
Grand helicopters, becoming the launch customer in its sector in
the USA.
The Agusta Grand, unveiled at the recent Farnborough air show in
the UK, with deliveries to start in 2005, is a new top-of-the-range
light twin turbine helicopter developed to meet diversified market
demand and providing levels of cabin space and payload that until
now could only be met by larger more expensive helicopters. The
Grand has a Maximum Take Off Weight of 3,175 Kg./7,000 lbs. The
combination of the new generation Pratt & Whitney PW207C turbo
shaft engines with electronic control (FADEC) and an up rated
transmission ensures outstanding performance, in both hovering and
forward flight, including Full Class 1 operation. The resulting
payload/range capability and the very high cruise speed make the
Grand an unrivalled helicopter in its category.
"The Agusta Grand's spacious cabin, high cruise speed and
payload/range capability are important considerations for our
helicopter operations. We are excited about the potential of the
Agusta Grand," says Ed Washecka, Vice President of Seacor.
"The Agusta Grand is a natural addition to the current product
line of twin turbine helicopters and we expect the Grand to find
acceptance in all major market segments," said Massimo Pugnali,
Agusta Aerospace Executive Vice President. More than 20 firm orders
for the Agusta Grand have been received in less than two months
since the model's unveiling.
