Cessna Delivers World's First G1000 Equipped Skylanes

GA is now benefitting from the next round of high-tech panels as new aircraft equipped with Garmin's G1000 are added to the US fleet.

Tuesday, Cessna celebrated the first deliveries of four Skylanes equipped with the Garmin G1000 integrated avionics system. During the ceremony in Independence, Kansas, Cessna's single engine team members cheered as Cessna's President and CEO Jack Pelton proudly presented the new Skylane owners their keys.

"These deliveries mark the beginning of a new era in general aviation. Providing the world's safest single engine airplanes with a fully-integrated, all-glass cockpit is one of the biggest developments since the restart of our single engine production line and revitalization of general aviation," said Jack Pelton, Cessna's President and CEO. "We are extremely proud to deliver these first all-glass G1000 equipped Skylanes, and we look forward to many more deliveries."

Cessna's Single Engine product line is renowned for its proven safety record, solid reliability, low operating cost, tremendous versatility, and comprehensive worldwide service network. The new Garmin G1000 integrated avionics system was announced in October 2003, and is available as a 2004 factory-installed, NAV III option on all Skylanes, Turbo Skylanes, Stationairs, and Turbo Stationairs. Cessna anticipates delivery of over 600 single engine aircraft in 2004. Of these, more than 90 percent of Skylanes and 75 percent of Stationairs will include the Garmin G1000 avionics.
