Beech Down In Las Vegas

Six Dead

Authorities in North Las Vegas (NV) are trying to discover why a Beechcraft B-36 went down shortly after take-off, killing all six people aboard.

It happened Christmas day. On Friday, the B-36 still rested in a concrete wash just south of the North Las Vegas Airport.

"There is a lot of burn damage. It's been difficult," said NTSB investigator Howard Plagens.

The bodies of four adults and two children were pulled from the smoldering wreckage late Thursday. The Clark County coroner said Friday that the bodies had not yet been identified.

Plagens said the aircraft took off at 1:21 local time, but crashed just moments later. He said the pilot radioed the airport that he was having engine trouble and was attempting to return to the runway. The aircraft went down just 400 yards shy of the strip.
