AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2020-05-14

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus SAS Model A320-214, -232, and -271N airplanes, and Model A321-231 airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule

SUMMARY:  This AD was prompted by a report of a production line inspection uncovering damage on a main landing gear (MLG) side stay attachment outboard lug.

This AD requires an inspection for discrepancies of the MLG side stay attachment outboard lugs, left-hand and right-hand sides, and applicable corrective action, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

DATES: This AD is effective April 20, 2020.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 1 airplane of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • 121 work-hours × $85 per hour = $10,285 per airplane.
