Pilot Sees Daughter, Friend Go Down

William Ledger made one of the toughest landings of his life Thursday, as he put his C-120 down near the crashed AA-1A (file, right) of his friend, John Jordan.

Jordan, 48, of Bossier City (LA), was flying Ledger's 13-year-old daughter, Erika, on a pleasure flight, as Mr Ledger flew nearby. For reasons yet unknown, Jordan's plane crashed as Ledger watched from the Cessna.

Jordan was killed in the impact. A third airplane from the area continued circling, to help with rescue crews, who were trying to save critically-injured little Erika. She was pronounced dead at LSU Hospital.

Erika was visiting her dad, enjoying her dad's friend's newly-acquired airplane.
