A Few Slots Remain For Atlanta EAA SportAir Workshops Next Weekend

Spots Also Open In Upcoming Repairman (LSA) Instruction Course In Andrews, NC

A few spots remain open for aircraft builders in several EAA SportAir Workshop courses in suburban Atlanta on Nov. 6-7. EAA SportAir Workshops, supported by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co., is a national series of programs offering insight and information on building and restoring aircraft.

EAA Chapter 690 will host the weekend program at Gwinnett County Airport-Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville, GA, and there are spots available in the following courses :

  • Composite Construction: This two-day course, which will present basic composite building techniques, is an intensive "hands-on" workshop discussing tools needed, safety aspects of composites, moldless construction to include "hot-wiring," bonding methods for composite kitplanes, etc. Nov. 6-7, $269
  • Electrical Systems & Avionics: This two-day course centered on the installation process, teaching proper soldering techniques in a "hands-on" workshop. (Nov. 6-7, $289)
  • Fabric Covering: This two-day course focuses on general fabric covering techniques using the Poly Fiber covering process. (Nov. 6-7, $269)
  • Sheet Metal Basics: This two-day course presents the basics of sheet metal applications and delivers a solid understanding of this construction method. (Nov. 6-7, $294)
  • What's Involved in Kit Building: This 2½-hour seminar takes attendees through the entire building process, discusses relevant FAA rules, and will dispel some of the common misconceptions involved in building an aircraft. (Nov. 6, $25)

Additionally, spots are still available in the upcoming Repairman (LSA) Inspection workshop, which will be held at Andrews-Murphy Airport in Andrews, N.C., on Nov. 12-14. Attendees who successfully complete this 2½-day course, which costs $299 for EAA members, will be able to perform the annual condition inspection on any experimental light-sport airplane they own.
