Pilatus PC-12 Air Ambulance Down In Amarillo

Three On Board Fatally Injured In The Accident

A Pilatus PC-12 air ambulance belonging to Rico Aviation went down Saturday shortly after takeoff from Amarillo, TX. Three employees of the company were fatally injured in the accident.

The company has not released the names of those on board as of this writing. The plane was reportedly en route to Clovis, NM.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports that The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident in a field about 0030 local time. The plane went down about two miles from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.

In a statement posted on the Rico Aviation Facebook page, the company confirmed the loss of its three employees. "We are devastated by this tragedy and are mourning the loss of our team members. The families have been notified and they are in our hearts and prayers. We appreciate prayers for our fallen teammates and their families.”

There was light rain falling at the time of the accident, according to the report. Winds were 20 knots gusting to 27 knots, according to National Weather Service Amarillo meteorologist Trent Hoffeditz. Visibility was reported to be about 10 miles.
