Captain Sully, F/O Skiles Reunite For Charity Flight

Will Pilot The Historical Flight Foundation's DC-7B From Miami To Charlotte

The pilots who famously landed US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River on January 15, 2009 in an Airbus A-320, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crewmembers onboard, will make another trip to CLT, the flights scheduled destination, on November 18, 2011. But this time the airplane will be a 1958 DC-7B from Miami, and a few select passengers will be on board.

Captain Sullenberger and F/O Skiles are supporting the Historical Flight Foundation (HFF) by flying only 40 members aboard the DC-7B aircraft from Opa-Locka to the Carolinas Aviation Museum, where the Flight 1549 aircraft now rests. Sully and Jeff will be part of the flight deck crew, and when not busy up front they will be visiting in the cabin with the passengers. The 2 hour and 45 minute flight will allow ample time for visiting, taking pictures and having great fun.

Back in the cabin, passengers will share the plentiful cabin space, large windows and great leg room famously afforded to passengers during the 1950s and 1960s. Enjoy the famous cigar lounge in the rear of the airplane, which may have allowed for smoking at the time – but we’re sorry to say that cigars won’t be allowed on this flight! Relive how great, romantic and comfortable a voyage was in one of the most luxurious prop airliners. Flying at altitudes of less than 10,000 feet, we will travel up the Florida coast, skirt the coast of Georgia, travel inland through the heart of South Carolina, and directly into the CLT airport.

Upon arrival, Captain Sullenberger, F/O Skiles, crewmembers and passengers will share a photo opportunity with N106US, the Miracle on the Hudson airplane now being housed in the Carolinas Aviation Museum hangar.

The price of the ticket is $1000 ticket price includes an annual membership in the HHF valued at $250. Fourty raffle tickets, at $200 each, will be offered to the people on board. These tickets will be for a chance to win a model signed by the crew on this flight. There will be 8 models in the raffle. Four each of the DC-7B, and 4 each of the famous A-320, N106US – Models manufactured by Atlantic Models, Inc. Winners can pose in front of each corresponding airplane with the crew.

All passengers will receive an autographed poster by the DC-7 crew, including Captain Sullenberger and F/O Skiles. (DC-7B Photo By Greg Drawbaugh)
