NBAA Scholarships Awarded

Schedulers & Dispatchers Disburse $27,500 in Funding at SDC2023

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has announced the award of $27,500 in scholarship funds for continuing aviation education.

The scholarships are offered in tandem with the NBAA's Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Committee, who recognized the awardees at this year's  NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference. The 2023 conference ran from January 24 to 26 in Nashville, Tennessee.

This year's crop of scholarships come thanks to funding from AC-U-KWIK, Atlantic Aviation, Lane Aviation, NBAA, Signature Flight Support, SkyPlan and Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. The winners of the S&D selection are Andrea Kayson, Jonathan Tolbert, Joy Flowers, Bryce Yatsu, and Sean Whisenhunt.

Each year, the NBAA’s S&D Committee offers scholarships through a pair of professional development programs aimed at fostering the next generation of business aviation schedulers and dispatchers. Through the S&D Scholarship Program, the committee is able to offer cash grants, which can be used for a greater variety of professional development initiatives outside the usual scholarship funding pathways. Since 1997, more than $750,000 has been awarded through this program.

In a similar vein a separate S&D Training Scholarship Program, launched in 2004, offers opportunities for scholarship recipients to gain access to hands-on teaching initiatives.

Interested applicants can check the range of available scholarships through the NBAA's assortment of development programs, with most career tracks throughout the business aviation industry supported.
