AUVSI To Participate Forum On The Future Of UAS

New America Foundation Hosting Event In Washington, D.C.

Michael Toscano, president & CEO of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), will participate in a Washington D.C. forum focusing on the future domestic use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) being held Tuesday, May 7. The forum, entitled “The Drone Next Door,” is hosted by the New America Foundation, in its partnership with Arizona State University and Slate.

During the forum, Toscano will discuss the economic and job creation potential of the UAS industry as outlined in a recently released report by AUVSI,  which projects that the industry could help create 70,000 American jobs in the first three years following the integration of UAS into the national airspace.

In addition to Toscano, speakers will include Slate national correspondent William Saletan; Rep. Paul Gosar, (R-AZ); representatives from the World Wildlife Fund, the ACLU, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Baltimore County Police Department; professors from MIT, Arizona State University, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and journalists from the Guardian, Washingtonian, and the New York Times.

AUVSI represents more than 7,500 individual members and more than 600 corporate members from 60+ allied countries involved in the fields of government, industry and academia. AUVSI members work in the defense, civil and commercial markets.
