Tulsa Public Schools Buy A 150

A Tulsa, OK magnet school has used a federal grant to purchase a 1965 Cessna 150E, which will be used in the school's aerospace and aviation maintenance technology curriculum.

The 150 won't be flying. Instead, television station KTUL reports that it will be taken apart and reassembled in a lab building on the McLain High School campus. From there, the airplane will expand on the flight simulator program already in use by the school, giving the students hands-on experience with engine maintenance, as well as learning about flight controls and instrumentation.

Aviation students at the magnet school also have the opportunity to earn a private pilots' certificate and a maintenance certification.
