The Firewall Forward Kit For The EAA One Week Wonder Zenith CH 750 Cruzer Will Speed The Building Process Along
The Rotax 912 iS Sport engine that will be at the heart of this year’s One Week Wonder project at EAA AirVenture is now on its way to Oshkosh. During the seven-day convention, volunteers will attempt to build a standard Zenith CH 750 Cruzer kit into a flying aircraft. The engine is expected to arrive on site July 23.
The Rotax 912 iS Sport was selected because it represents the very latest in engine technology, said Charlie Becker, EAA’s homebuilt communities manager and One Week Wonder leader. “I wanted to make sure the One Week Wonder project shows everyone that as a homebuilder you can choose the best technology available in aviation for your project,” he said. “That is why we selected the Rotax 912 iS Sport and the Dynon SkyView Touch.”
The Rotax features fuel injection, single lever control, fuel efficiency, and an engine monitoring system. Such a technologically advanced engine can present a bigger challenge to install when up against a seven-day building deadline. However, Skytek Aircraft Services has created a Rotax Engine Installation Package (REIP) that provides everything a homebuilder needs for a successful installation.
“We are going to need all the help we can get in order to build this aircraft in seven days,” Becker said. “Skytek has really done their homework so we can get the 912 installed and get the most out of the engine. The days when homebuilders were on their own regarding engine installation are happily in the past for modern kit aircraft.”
AirVenture attendees are invited to stop by the One Week Wonder tent on EAA Square during AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 and participate in this unique and challenging project!
