ABACE 2005 Opens With Strong Attendance, High Enthusiasm

Shanghai Confab Only Asian Event To Focus On Biz Av

More than 1,600 Attendees were on hand to celebrate the opening of the first Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE2005) this week in Shanghai, China. ABACE 2005 is the only major Asian event focused solely on business aviation, with an exhibit floor at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center in China and an aircraft display at nearby Hongqiao Airport.

The Opening General Session for ABACE 2005 was moderated by NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. The session included remarks from Jason Liao, president of the Asian Business Aviation Association, as well as a representative from Shanghai Airport. Officials with the Civil Aviation Authority of China and other local and regional government entities also were present to discuss the importance of developing business aviation in the Asian region.

"In both Asia and the US, business aviation has the potential to increase economic development, make businesses more competitive and enhance the quality of life for citizens," Bolen said. "That's why the theme for ABACE2005 -- 'The Need Has Never Been Greater, The Timing Has Never Been Better' -- is so appropriate for this, the inaugural ABACE event."

ABACE2005 showcases more than 50 Exhibiting Companies from around the world and 12 aircraft in current production from several major business aircraft designers. The aircraft are as follows:

  • Premier
  • Hawker 800 XP
  • G200
  • G550
  • Challenger 604
  • Lear 45
  • Global Express
  • Challenger 300
  • Citation Sovereign
  • Citation CJ1
  • Falcon 900 ExASY
  • Legacy

Informational sessions are scheduled to address the safety culture of business aviation, business aviation security, airspace/air traffic infrastructure, airport handling and support, and more.
