November 2nd Chinook Crash Claims Another Life

Death Toll Mounts

From the DOD, ANN regrets to report even more bad news surrounding the cowardly attack on a CH-47 Chinook last Sunday. Sgt. Paul F. Fisher, 39, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Nov. 6 at the Homburg University Klinikum, Homberg, Germany.

Fisher was very seriously injured on Nov. 2 in Al Fallujah, Iraq, when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter in which he was riding went down. As a result of the incident, there were 16 soldiers killed in action and 26 wounded. Fisher was assigned to Detachment 1, Company F, 106th Aviation Battalion, Army National Guard, based in Davenport, Iowa. This is the second death for that unit after losing CWO Bruce Smith in the same crash.

Fisher was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and was a 1982 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He's survived by his wife and one stepson. Fisher was the crew chief aboard the CH-47.

ANN sends its prayers and respect to the families of all who were killed and injured in this accident.
