Bombardier Gives Global 5000 Longer Legs

Range Grows To 5,200 NM

Bombardier Aerospace announced Tuesday a 400-nautical mile increase to the non-stop intercontinental range of its high speed Global 5000 business jet.

The range increase is standard for all Global 5000 aircraft ordered as of February 1, 2008 and will be available as an option for aircraft previously ordered, but yet to be delivered, in the second quarter of fiscal year 2009.

The range extension will be obtained by increasing the Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) to 92,500 lbs, allowing for a fuel tank capacity increase.

"This is fantastic news for our Global 5000 jet customers," stated Eric Martel, vice-president and general manager, Global and Challenger, Bombardier Business Aircraft. "Already offering exceptional speed and performance, the Global 5000 jet now flies you further."

Officially launched in 2002, the Global 5000 provides one of the widest and most spacious cabins among super-large business jets, and is is capable of flying non-stop from Continental Europe to central North America at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers and three crew.
