Florida Balloon Event Cancelled By Organizers

Several Factors Force The 'Balloons Over Paradise' Event To Be Scrapped For This Year

People who were planning to attend the "Balloons Over Paradise" event sponsored by the Seminole Casino Hotel in Immokalee, FL in April are going to be disappointed. The casino has postponed the event for this year.

Gary Bitner, the spokesman for the casino which is the main organizer of the event, told the Naples News that "the water table at the event site is very high due to recent rains, and as of now, it is too muddy for spectators. Nearby construction has also complicated the event-planning process for this year."

The event had planned to feature over 60 balloons floating over south Florida. Bitner said that the casino intends to bring the event back in 2017.
