Women In Aviation International
By ANN Correspondent Aleta Vinas
Around $500,000 in scholarships will soon be up for the taking.
Women in Aviation International has announced that as of September
1, 2005, members can start applying for the scholarships on the
website. In the past ten years approximately $4 million in
scholarships have been awarded.
The deadline for most of the applications is December 2, 2005.
Applicants are encouraged to read scholarship descriptions
carefully to make sure all requirements are met. Be sure to follow
the application directions carefully as well.
The scholarships are awarded each year at the Women in Aviation
International Conference. The 2006 Conference is scheduled for
March 23 - 25, 2006 at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, (TN).
The conference is a combination job fair, networking and
information gathering arena. It's a chance for those in the
industry and those interested in the industry to talk and assist
each other.
Women in Aviation International President Dr. Peggy Chabrian
hopes to see lots of new faces at the Nashville Conference. At last
years Conference, the new membership campaign, "Just Ask Someone"
was started. The goal is to double current membership. Chabrian
knows the best people to do the recruiting are the current members,
"We are always looking for new and fun ways to increase our
membership. Who better than a current member to convince an
individual to join WAI?"
Ask a friend, or better yet, ask two! They don't have to be
female. WAI is open to men and women.
