Corporate Angel Network Flies 49,000th, 49,001st Cancer Patient Flights

Father And Son, Both Cancer Patients, Share Milestone Flight

Corporate Angel Network’s 49,000th and 49,001st cancer patients departed Baton Rouge, LA on October 27, 2015 for Angleton, TX, a suburb of Houston. On board the flight operated The Dow Chemical Company were 54 year old prostate cancer patient Richard Gremillion, Jr. (pictured, right), and his 74 year old father, Richard Gremillion, Sr. (left), who is also being treated for prostate cancer. Both are receiving treatment in Houston.

“After successful surgery in 2011, a recurrence appeared in January 2015,” said Rick Gremillion, Jr. “Chemo started in June of this year and required frequent trips to Houston. With my very first call to CAN, I felt that something special was about to happen and it sure has! Everyone has been extremely nice and accommodating and knowing that I would be home in just a few hours after treatment is a huge stress relief. My father, Richard Gremillion, Sr., is participating in a clinical trial and also travels with CAN.

Dow was one of the first companies to offer flights to cancer patients through CAN, starting in 1983.

“Dow’s partnership with CAN allows us to make a real difference for thousands of people – often a life-saving difference,” said Rob Vallentine, director global citizenship and President, The Dow Chemical Company Foundation. “Dow people are driven to help build stronger, more sustainable communities, and this is one of the most important ways we are able to do that.”
