Dad Flies Second Son To School In Orlando

Mayor Of Minneola Caught A Ride To Work From The School

The dad who sparked an FAA investigation after landing near East Ridge High School in Minneola outside Orlando, Florida to drop his oldest son at school on the first day of classes has made a second flight, this time for his younger boy.

Pilot Bart Sutherin flew his younger son, 6-year-old Chandler, to Grassy Lake Elementary school Wednesday morning, landing on a private soccer field near the school and walking him to the front door. He said the younger boy had been "begging" for a ride to school after his older brother arrived there by helicopter back on August 24th.

The Orlando Sentinal reports that this time there was no drama about a helicopter landing on school grounds, probably because Sutherin told the school administration ahead of time what was going on.

The paper reports that this time Dave Yeager, the Mayor of Minneola, met Sutherin at Grassy Lakes got on board the rented helo for a ride downtown. Yeager reportedly helped orchestrate the unconventional school drop-off. He took some aerial pictures of the town, then Sutherin dropped him off at his office.

Just another Wednesday in suburban Florida.
