Fifty-years after the surcease of direct hostilities in Southeast Asia, EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 will remember the soldiers, sailors, Marines, Airmen, and aircraft that fought valiantly in the Vietnam War—that most vexing, frustrating, and divisive of American 20th Century conflicts. The 70th edition of EAA’s storied fly-in convention—to be held 24 through 30 July 2023—will include specific programs and activities presenting and predicated upon aircraft of the Vietnam Era—to include machines from all U.S. service branches.

19 Months as Euro Budget Airline Comes to an End

Low-cost carrier Flyr filed for bankruptcy after a mere 20 months in operation, citing a failure to find investors in its crucial loss-making phase. Unfortunately for pax and pilots, Flyr abruptly announced the cessation of all operations, with all tickets canceled. The move put 400 employees out of work, with thousands of ticket holders left in the lurch to find new accommodations home. The carrier had not been in the green throughout its brief existence, dependent upon the graces of financiers and investors supporting it until it could carve out enough market share to attain profitability. UAV Adds Another Tool to the Box of Uncrewed DoD Toys

General Atomics has demonstrated their new Eaglet, a new survivable Air-Launched Effect (ALE). The flight was done as part of a flight demonstration based out of the Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah last December but only published recently. The Eaglet was launched from a U.S. Army MQ-1C Gray Eagle Extended Range (GE-ER) UAS aircraft, kicking off the first of many flights as the company and its customers look to define a suitable role for the ALE.

Volatus Embarks on Vertiport Project at Bellefonte Airport

1st of 8 Landing Pads and Charging Installations Operational by 2024

Volatus Infrastructure has reached an agreement with  Bellefonte Airport for the construction of a public use vertiport. The public use airport is located in Centre County, Pennsylvania . Eventually, Bellefonte will see the installation of up to 8 landing pads for electric VTOL aircraft, each equipped with charging stations and the necessary infrastructure to support them. The first vertiport is expected to be operational later this year.
