Boeing Delivers Two Qatar Airways 777-200LRs In February

Middle East Carrier Has 17 Triple-7s On Order

Earlier this week, Boeing delivered the second of eight long-range 777-200LR jetliners that have been ordered by Qatar Airways. The airplane departed Paine Field in Everett in the early afternoon on a shuttle flight of more than 14 hours to its new operational base at Doha International Airport.

The 777-200LR is the longest-range commercial airliner currently in existence. As ANN reported, Boeing established a new world record for nonstop distance travelled by a commercial airplane in October 2005, when a 777-200LR "Worldliner" landed at London Heathrow after a 22-hour, 42-minute flight that spanned almost 12,000 nautical miles.

Qatar Airways is one of Boeing's biggest customers for the 777 line. To date, the airline has ordered 17 777-300ERs (Extended Range), five of which have been delivered, and two 777 Freighters for future delivery.

The first Boeing 777-200LR to join the airline's fleet arrived in Doha February 8.
