Blown Tires Force Emergency Landing Of Air China Jet

Carrier Had Problematic Weekend With Minor Mishaps

An Air China Boeing 747 heading for Beijing, China, was forced to make an emergency landing Friday after blowing out at least one tire on takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport.

The jet, carrying more than 200 passengers, landed without incident about 3:30 a.m., according to an operations officer with the Federal Aviation Administration's Western Operations Center.

LAX officials did not immediately know just how many tires were involved, but tire debris was located on the runway, according to the China Daily.

An operations officer said affected passengers were being shuttled back to the terminal at 4:30 a.m. for alternative arrangements.

No injuries were reported, said a Los Angeles Fire Department captain.

Then Sunday, an Air China Boeing 767, Flight CA941, was taxiing for takeoff from Beijing headed to Dubai with 148 passengers when its nose gear collapsed reported the Shanghaiist.
