Airborne 10.25.19: Tecnam Traveller, Tamarack To Emerge From Ch-11, Epic E1000

Also: Honda Medevac Interior, VisionSafe, Falcon 2000LXS/900LX Sim, Volocopter Air Taxi

There’s a new airliner on the tarmac, folks... and what it does is change the dynamic of small airline travel with a thoroughly modern approach to the need to support small markets.

The Tecnam P2012 Traveller was on display at NBAA 2019 and ANN’s Jim Campbell got a rundown with Tecnam’s Shannon Yeager about the piston twin’s potential. Tamarack Aerospace Group has filed a Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization with the Eastern District of Washington. The filed Plan includes repayment of all creditors in full and, when approved, the Plan will allow Tamarack to emerge from bankruptcy. Tamarack sought bankruptcy protection on June 1st of this year when the timing for resolving Airworthiness Directives (ADs) became uncertain. The ADs had grounded the Active Winglet fleet of 91 aircraft after an erroneously reported incident on April 13, 2019. The grounding was resolved and worldwide Active Winglet operations resumed as of July 10, 2019 following factual review by EASA, FAA, NTSB, and the UK AAIB. All you have to do is peruse recent coverage on ANN’s newsfeed to see that the single engine turboprop market is a lively one... growing by the day and with enough potential to attract several new entrants. One of the newest is on the cusp of certification within a matter of weeks after years of development... and the all composite Epic E1000 seems ready to hit the market with deliveries set to begin within weeks of getting their FAA paperwork. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
