ANN FAQ: May I Post An Aero-News Story On MY Site?

As Long As You Ask Us, It's Usually OK

It's a question the ANN staff is asked too many times per week to count. The message usually goes something like this: "I really enjoyed the story Aero-News did on (fill in topic here.) I'd love to post it on my blog/newsletter/website... is that OK?"

Typically, we're an easy-going group here at ANN (even Jim has his moments) and we usually don't mind a bit if our readers use an ANN story for their own use, AS LONG AS THEY ASK US FIRST.

As you may be able to tell by the BOLD TYPE, that has been an issue in the past... in fact, it remains so today. We often come across copyrighted ANN stories elsewhere on the web -- some attributed, but many not. It's an irksome problem... and, sadly, it keeps the lawyers busy.

Having said that, if you wish to use an Aero-News story, all you need to do is drop us an email to editor@aero-news.net. If you plan to use the story on a website, please include a link to the site... just so we can make sure our story isn't going to be used to promote or "legitimize" a phishing site (yes, that has happened.)

A member of the ANN staff will reply to your email within 24-48 hours, usually to say "Sure! And thank you for reading Aero-News!" If for any reason we decline to grant reprint permission, we'll explain why; again, that doesn't happen often.

Two caveats: if you reprint a story from the Aero-News site, please reprint the WHOLE story... we don't want to see anything taken out-of-context.

And, one last thing: please include a reference on your site, blog, et al that you found the story on Aero-News; if you can hyperlink to the ANN site, so much the better!
