More Info Available To Pilots
Duncan Aviation
announced this week the successful certification and installation
of the Rockwell Collins IDS-3000 and IFIS (Integrated Flight
Information System) in an Astra 1125. The IDS-3000 and IFIS STC
applies to Astra 1125 and 1125SP aircraft and meets operator
requests for the safety of tomorrow's technology in the
cockpit.
"We are very excited to offer the safety and technology of the
IDS-3000 to the Astra market," says Steve Elofson, Duncan Aviation
avionics modifications salesperson. "These operators have been
asking for this technology for years and we are please to be the
first to make the IDS-3000 available to them."
Duncan Aviation's facility in Lincoln, Nebraska performed the
installation, and the STC was one of the first approved with a
number from Duncan Aviation's newly granted DAS (Designated
Authorization Station).
The IDS-3000 is part of the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 family.
The IDS-3000 integrated display system consists of three 8" x 10"
AMLCD (Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display) adaptive flight
displays (two primary displays and an MFD.)
The IFIS facilitates
the digital display of XM NEXRAD weather and Jeppesen approach and
navigation charts on the "glass" display panels. The new displays
enhance safety by reducing clutter in the cockpit and reducing crew
fatigue by minimizing scan area. The high resolution IDS-3000
displays show critical and essential symbology like TAWS, TCAS, LRN
and the technology required for CNS/ATM.
"IDS-3000 and IFIS offer operators a cost-effective means to
enhance aircraft with large, informative displays that increase
situational awareness and increase operational value," said Denny
Helgeson, vice president and general manager of Business and
Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. "We're very pleased with
Duncan Aviation's efforts to provide real-time information and
advanced decision making tools to this segment of the market."
