Next Stop For Air Trophy: Greenland

Pilots Invited To Fly Across The Atlantic, Participate In STOL Competition

Air Trophy is planning its next great adventure as part of its series of STOL competitions in unlikely places. If you've ever wanted to fly to Greenland, this could be your chance.

Called the "Ryder Cup" of STOL competitions, the event is planned for June 23-July 5. Teams from North America ... the U.S. and Canada ... and across Europe will travel to various remote locations in Greenland, and participate in a STOL competition in Narsarsuaq, which is believed to be the northernmost STOL competition in the world.

The event is being organized by Prepare2Go, which encourages pilots to continue their journey in either direction after the competition. For Europeans, it presents the opportunity to fly their airplanes to Oshkosh for AirVenture.

The company says the event does not include any of the normal aviation fees, such as landing, parking and others. They are also subsidizing the cost of fuel for participating pilots.

Teams from the United States, Norway, Iceland, Belgium, England, Holland, Switzerland, France and Romania have already registered to participate.

Teams are limited to 12 aircraft each. Air Trophy Director Sam Rutherford says that the registration will be open on a first-come (paid), first-served basis until the teams are full, or the event begins.
