Bo Gets Osprey Ride To Martha's Vineyard

First Pooch Airlifted To Family Vacation

Bo, President Barack Obama's Portuguese Water Dog, did not travel with the rest of the family to their Martha's Vineyard vacation spot.

Instead, the First Dog arrived separately aboard one of two Marine Corps MV-22 Ospreys used to transport the Presidential party to the resort island. It is reportedly the first time an Osprey has been used by the President for vacation transportation.

The Washington Times reports that President Obama will be staying at a resort at the western tip of the island. It was not reported why it was necessary for Bo to travel separately from the rest of his family.

Meanwhile, the local newspaper The Martha's Vineyard Times has warned local residents that they can expect lengthy delays when the President travels around the island, and advises that anyone with an issue with the traffic should contact the White House, according to the U.K newspaper The Telegraph.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the President was "looking forward very much to a little down time with his family. I'm sure he'll see some friends."

Bo was not the only one on board the Osprey that took him to the island. Other members of the President's entourage, including secret service and White House staffers, were aboard. There was no word on how some of them might have felt about flying on the "dog bird."
