Smoke Near Farnborough Dreamliner From Ground Power Unit

Firetrucks Scrambled, But 787 Was Undamaged

Firetrucks at the Farnbobough Air Show were seen racing towards one of the shows star attractions Wednesday; Boeing's 787 Dreamliner. But when they got there, they discovered that the smoke that was observed coming from the vicinity of the airplane was just a smoldering Ground Power Unit.

The plane was not damaged, according to a statement from Boeing. It was preparing to depart Farnborough Wednesday when the incident occurred.

Reuters reports that airport management company Tag Aviation, which operates the Farnborough Airport, said it was just a minor incident, and neither airport operations or the air show was disrupted.

Last year at the Paris Air Show, one of Airbus' flagship airplanes, an A380, was slightly damaged when one of its wings clipped a building and it had to be hastily repaired.
