Airliners Feature New Interior Configuration
Boeing and Singapore Airlines celebrated the deliveries of the
first two 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners for Singapore
Airlines Wednesday. The 777s also feature the airline's new
interior configuration for its 777 fleet.
Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer Chew Choon Seng
joined Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Scott Carson
and GE Aviation Vice President of Sales Roger Seager in a signing
ceremony in front of two of the airline's new 777-300ERs, parked
nose-to-nose at the Everett, WA delivery center.
Singapore Airlines has ordered a total of 19 Boeing 777-300ERs,
which feature 35-inch-wide seats with 23-inch LCD video screens in
the first-class cabin and 30-inch-wide seats with 15-inch LCD
screens in business class, as well as increased leg and knee room
in economy class, with seat-back screens larger than 10 inches
diagonally measured.
The new interior configuration was originally set to debut in
the carrier's A380s... but with deliveries of that mammoth plane
delayed due to wiring issues, Boeing was able to claim that
distinction.
"Our delivery today provides an opportunity for Boeing to honor
Singapore Airlines as an ideal example of the strength of the 777,"
said Carson. "These airplanes symbolize the great relationship that
we share with Singapore Airlines."
With today's deliveries, Singapore Airlines now operates 60
777s, the largest 777 fleet in the world. In addition, 17 more
777-300ERs remain to be delivered. The aircraft delivered today
will be added to the airline's fleet of 12 777-300s, 31 777-200s,
15 777-200ERs and 25 747-400s.
The 777-300ER utilizes the world's most powerful commercial jet
engine, GE's GE90-115B. In service, the GE90-115B engines have
demonstrated superior reliability and extremely low fuel burn with
the 777-300ER.
