Tired of Trickle-Charging a Power-Hungry EFB? New High-Output USB-C Standard Charges it All
True Blue Power has announced a line of 100-watt USB-C charging ports to their line of TSO certified MAX Power USB charging receptacles.
As personal computing devices have grown in size and capability, many users have complained of greatly increased power requirements, particularly as the industry moves away from traditional, square USB-A receptacles in favor of the smaller, sleeker, reversible USB Type-C. Type C is quickly becoming the norm, boasting greatly increased data transmission speeds and high-speed charging that puts traditional USB-A to shame. True Blue is allowing aircraft operators to stay ahead of the curve, offering the TA 360 series for those looking to power their tablets, laptops, and phones in-flight. The benefits of Type-C charging ports aren’t just limited to offering easily attached, reversible, and standardized charging ports. Senior VP of technology and products at True Blue Power, Matthew Harrah, says that the range of products in use today demand high-output but streamlined power delivery.
“As new mandates require USB-C compatibility for personal electronics—and tablets and laptops need more and more power to operate—our new, 100-watt chargers fill the gap,” explained Matthew Harrah, Senior Vice President of Technology and Products for True Blue Power. “And in many cases, they are replacing AC outlets. Now, your device can get all the power it needs by directly plugging into a USB port, without a bulky charging adaptor.”
All of True Blue’s USB chargers are TSO-certified and offer a limited lifetime warranty. Whether needed in single, double, or lighted configuration, operators can find just the thing to keep their passengers happy. The 100-watt USB charger supplies 5 to 20 volts of power at 3 to 5 amps, with intelligent, device-driven voltage output to ensure the safety of any device used.
