Rod Machado Rolls Out Instrument Pilot's Survival Manual Third Edition

An IFR Pilot's Favorite Just Became Better

Instrument flying has changed, with the advent of so many glass cockpits and related developments. With that in mind, Rod Machado's Instrument Pilot's Survival Manual has been completely revised.

The new edition contains an entirely new chapter on GPS usage referencing the Garmin IFR certified WAAS-base GPS unit; basic approach programming, route programming and reprogramming, enroute usage and more. It covers all approach modes from LNAV, L/VNAV, LPV and LP.

There is also a new section in weather chapter covering the Skew-T/Log P chart that's very helpful in evaluating the convective potential of the air. The Advanced Thunderstorm Avoidance chapter reflects the newer convective weather depictions on Center and Approach Control radar. And, a new section was added on instrument scanning of primary flight displays (PFDs).

According to Machado's website, the Instrument Pilot's Survival Manual is written to answer the instrument pilot's most important and frequently unanswered questions. He says the book will prepare you to be a more educated and proficient pilot.
