Association Also Seeks New PDP Providers
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announces that
it has revised and expanded its Professional Development Program
(PDP) objectives, bringing the total number of objectives to 30.
The changes were made in order to align PDP more closely with the
NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Program, NBAA's formal
certification program for current and aspiring flight department
managers. The association now seeks new educational providers to
develop courses that meet the new PDP objectives.
In 1997, NBAA created the Professional Development Program to
prepare flight department personnel for management roles, and the
first courses were offered in 1998. The curriculum, developed by a
task force of corporate flight department specialists and
collegiate aviation educators, originally covered four knowledge
area modules: aviation management, business administration,
communications and leadership. The 27 original PDP objectives
within each area represented the topics to be taught by educational
institutions and commercial training providers.
Now, NBAA introduces five new and improved knowledge area
modules: leadership, personnel management, operations, technical
and facilities services, and business management. These modules
together have a total of 30 PDP objectives. The previous modules
and objectives will remain in effect for a period of time as the
Professional Development Program transitions to the new modules and
objectives.
"With the new objectives, PDP offers expanded guidance that will
better prepare aspiring managers for management opportunities
within a flight department," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.
"And current business aviation managers taking the courses will
have more tools they can immediately apply in their day-to-day work
environment."
NBAA is now soliciting new educational providers to offer
courses meeting the new PDP objectives. Interested parties should
contact NBAA's Jay Evans.
