SPA, AOPA Officials Will Attend VA Lake Gaston Splash-In

Event Planned For October 5th

New AOPA president and CEO Mark Baker and Steve McCaughey, Executive Director of the Seaplane Pilots Association (SPA) will attend the Seaplane Splash-In being held at Lake Gaston Resort on October 5, 2013.  Also participating in the event will be the Virginia Department of Aviation, the Virginia Seaplane Pilots Association, and the Mecklenburg Brunswick Regional Airport.

During the Splash-In seaplanes of all types will be taking off and landing on one of the two water runways on Lake Gaston.  There will be information displays, music, and food and drinks for participants.

The event will run from approximately 1000 to 1600 EDT. It is open to the public, and admission is free.

The Virginia Department of Aviation’s (DOAV) vision is to become the standard of excellence among state aviation agencies and make the Virginia aviation system the model air transportation system providing Virginia communities economic development opportunities and convenient access to the National air transportation system.   DOAV’s mission is to cultivate an advanced aviation system that is safe, secure and provides for economic development; promote aviation education and awareness; and provide the safest and most efficient flight services for the Commonwealth leadership and state agencies.
