Designed To Communicate Between Existing And New Formats
A new tool designed to convert formats between the existing and
the planned ICAO new flight plan has been introduced by Adacel, the
company said in an news release Thursday. The flight plan converter
is intended to facilitate the implementation by Air Navigation
Service Providers (ANSP) of the ICAO approved new flight plan data
requirements.
The ICAO new flight plan (INFPL) format will contain more
detailed data concerning an aircraft’s Communication,
Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) advanced capabilities in order to
meet the evolving requirements of modern automated Air Traffic
Management (ATM) systems. ICAO has approved the new flight plan
through an amendment to the Procedures for Air Navigation Services
– Air Traffic Management (PANS-ATM, Doc 4444). It should be
noted that although the new flight plan form implementation date is
15th November 2012 all States should have their systems available
to accept the new flight plan form by mid 2012 in order that
aviation users can become familiar with submitting the new format
before the November deadline.
As an alternative to upgrading or replacing the ANSP’s
existing Flight Data Processing (FDP) systems, Adacel is offering a
flight plan converter as a robust and cost effective solution. The
Adacel application interfaces with the Aeronautical Fixed
Telecommunication Network or the Aeronautical Message Handling
System (AFTN/AMHS) circuits and the ANSP’s ATM/FDP system. It
converts data between the new 2012 flight plan format and the
legacy format to enable compatibility with both older and newer
automated ATM systems without the need for system upgrade or
replacement.
