Association Chronicles Earlier Beech 1900 Fatals

The Air Travelers Association, has listed the fatal passenger accidents involving Raytheon Aircraft Corporation Beech Commuter 1900 Series Aircraft, as shown in the table below. The table does not include Wednesday's fatal passenger accident of a Raytheon Beech Commuter 1900D in Charlotte (NC), operated as US Airways Express flight 5481. The Air Travelers Association defines a "fatal passenger accident" as one in which at least one passenger is killed or dies as a direct result of an accident occurring during a revenue passenger flight, and in which there was physical damage to the aircraft.

  • 3-17-01 SAL Express  1900C-1   Lubango, Angola;
    16 fatalities: Crashed on approach in poor weather and heavy rain
  • 5-17-00 Avirex       1900C-1   Moanda, Gabon;
    3 fatalities: Crashed short of runway on approach in poor weather
  • 7-30-98 Proteus Air System  1900D     Vannes, France;
    15 fatalities: Midair collision with small aircraft
  • 11-19-86 Great Lakes Airlines 1900C-1   Quincy (IL);
    14 fatalities: Collided on runway with another aircraft
  • 12-7-95 Air Saint Martin  1900D  Belle-Anse, Haiti;
    20 fatalities: Crashed into mountain on approach to Port-au-Prince
  • 1-3-92 Commutair  1900C-1  Saranac Lake (NY)
    2 fatalities: Crashed on approach short of the runway
  • 5-18-90 Aerolift Philippines  1900C-1 Manila, Philippines
    25 fatalities: Aircraft went out of control on takeoff after engine failure
  • 11-24-87 Arctic Transportation Services 1900C Homer (AK)
    18 fatalities: Crashed short of runway in darkness and poor weather
