Pilot Safe After Ejecting From T-38

Plane Crashes West Of San Antonio, TX

Investigators are on the scene to determine what caused a T-38 Talon jet to crash near the town of Hondo, TX Thursday afternoon.

Randolph Air Force Base spokeswoman Naomi Evangelista said the pilot was able to eject safely before the plane went down at approximately 12:45 pm local time. He was the only person onboard the trainer, and is listed in good condition at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base. The pilot's identity was not released.

The aircraft was performing a training mission and was assigned to the 12th Flying Training Wing at Lackland.

A board of officers will be appointed to investigate the accident.
