The Evolution Of Evolution -- Piston Version

Lancair Announces First Flight Of Its Latest Model

Redmond, Oregon based Lancair International Inc. announced the successful first flight of its newest Evolution model Thursday .

The piston version of the Evolution aircraft, which will be powered by Lycoming's new iE2 series engine, will provide a high level of automation in engine operation and performance, allowing true single lever operation. The piston Evolution cruises at 270 knots and has a full fuel payload of 1074 lbs.

The Evolution is Lancair's newest pressurized four place plane available in either a piston or turbine configuration. Its high altitude speed, coupled with docile slow speed handling, makes it ideal for affordable cross country travel.

Lancair is celebrating its 25th year selling high performance piston and turbine kit aircraft.  They offer a selection of seven aircraft as Fastbuild kits.

To date, the company has delivered over 2,000 kits.  As testimony to their quality and design, Lancair aircraft have set a number of world speed records and have dominated the Sports Class at the Reno Air Races for several years.
