All-Knowing Excel Doc Demystifies Training Process
The National Air Transportation Association has shown off its new NATA Aviation Apprenticeship Tracking Tool.
The system allows members to develop "test-ready" and "well-documented aviation maintenance technician applicants", with "turn-key process for documenting on-the-job tasks required by FAA to meet the minimum qualifications for an FAA signed and completed FAA Form 8610-2." Once through with their process, participants can take on the FAA written test head-on with confidence. The NATA Aviation Apprenticeship Tracking Tool streamlines and demystifies the process of working towards a full FAA Aviation Mechanic Certificate with privileges of Airframe and Powerplant (A&P), too. They can power through the program in "just over 30 months", while those aiming for Airframe or Powerplant add-ons can have theirs done in "just over 18 months".
“We are incredibly proud of the innovative and selfless spirit of our Maintenance Committee members in developing solutions to prevalent industry issues like workforce recruitment and development,” stated NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna. “NATA is pleased to support a member-driven resource that follows FAA guidance to provide a more comprehensive pathway to employee mechanic certification. The NATA Aviation Apprenticeship Tracking Tool prepares an applicant to return to an MRO as an FAA certificated aircraft mechanic more expediently and efficiently with credible training, real-world experience, and profit-making ability.”
In a refreshing change of pace in a world swamped with single-purpose, orphaned smartphone apps, the NATA has provided their tool as all complex, information-dense data should be presented: A downloadable Excel spreadsheet. The members-only tool includes all aeronautical knowledge, risk management, and skill proficiency standards required for the Aviation Mechanic Certificate.
