NASA Image Library Has A New Digital Home

Luna Imaging Now Hosting Many Of The Agencies Most Iconic Photographs

Many of NASA's most iconic images are now available on a searchable library hosted by a Luna Images, a digital image archiving company.

In a blog post dated June 16th, Luna Imaging said "We're excited to announce the public availability of the NASA Images collection in LUNA software, featuring over 100,000 historic photos documenting America's space program.  With over 70 NASA imagery collections combined into a single, searchable resource, it's a powerful example of LUNA software in action."

Engadget reports that there are over 138,000 images, including some of the most recognizable photos from the Apollo missions and the Hubble Space Telescope. The library is organized in categories such as "Highlights", "Planets", "Hubble", "Earth" and "Aircraft".

The archive is searchable via multiple parameters. Engadget reports that the images have been restricted to a maximum width of 1536 pixels, limiting their resolution.
