Available Via Online Subscription; Current Users Will Receive
Free Update
Representatives with Approach Systems Corporation, developer of
APIC Glass Cockpit Software Technology, told ANN this week of the
addition of Real Time Approach Plate capability to APIC's suite of
glass cockpit software technologies.
APIC is an all inclusive, GPS based, Moving Map, Primary Flight
Display (PFD), HSI, Engine Monitoring software package that runs on
Microsoft based platforms like Tablet PCs, Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC),
PDAs and other Windows Mobile based devices.
In addition to displaying standard NOS approach plates and
airport diagrams, APIC can now display and fly both the horizontal
and vertical let down sections of the standard NOS Approach plate.
APIC allows displaying a standard moving map, PFD and approach
plate simultaneously in any user view configuration. The new
capability is a no cost addition to the standard APIC software
subscription.
Approach provides a CD/ROM containing all US NOS plates. APIC is
plug and play; the user does not need to "calibrate" their plates.
Calibration for all 12,000+ plates is already done by Approach.
Current APIC customers will have this capability with the
standard 28 day update in March 2007. New customers can obtain a
subscription to APIC for $89.00 on-line. The APIC/Plate CD/ROM cost
is just $10.00 for shipping and handling for any single month
update. Yearly subscriptions are available for $99.00. Approach
will send a new CD/ROM every 28 days with the yearly
subscription.
Approach APIC provides modern glass cockpit technology on low
cost Commercial off the shelf (COTS) platforms based on Microsoft
XP and Windows Mobile based technologies. Approach will be
demonstrating APIC's new Approach Plate capability at the Northwest
Aviation Conference in Puyallup, WA February 24 & 25, 2007.
