Courtesy FBO Training Program Enters 10th Year

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., the General Dynamics subsidiary and maker of nonpareil business jets, and FlightSafety International, the renown Part 142 simulator training institution, have come together to recognize the 10th anniversary of a complimentary ground handling and servicing training program jointly undertaken by the two companies.

Devised to meet the training needs of line service technicians, the program is intended to improve dispatch reliability and increase the safety of Gulfstream aircraft operations and the people responsible for the execution thereof.

The complimentary training program comprises explanations and demonstrations of best practices for handling and servicing Gulfstream aircraft, including in part: parking, walkarounds, fueling, towing, and snow and ice removal. Gulfstream covers the cost for fixed base operator (FBO) personnel to complete the course annually. For purpose of ensuring the described training is easily and perennially available, eligible parties may access such online anywhere at any time.

Since October 2013, 160 FBOs in thirty countries have participated in the program. In 2023 alone, upwards of eight-hundred technicians have enrolled.

Gulfstream president of customer support Derek Zimmerman remarked: “This exciting milestone further demonstrates our ongoing commitment to safety and service. We value our partnership with FlightSafety International, and we’re pleased to work with them to offer this complimentary service to technicians at the FBOs our customers rely on. Since the program’s inception, there have been 26,000 ground handling and servicing training course enrollments.”

Over the past decade, the program has evolved and expanded to support Gulfstream’s growing fleet. In 2023 it includes training customized for technicians handling Gulfstream G150, G200, G280, G450, G550, G650, G500, G600, G700 and G800 aircraft.
