LaGuardia 'Slottery' Continues

Airport Still Capping Both Departures And Arrivals

The FAA's cap on the number of flights going into and out of New York's LaGuardia will remain in effect at least until October, 2005. The "slottery" will continue.

You might remember that Congress lifted slot allocations at LaGuardia in 2000. You might also remember that in 2001, LaGuardia earned the dubious distinction of having the most flight delays of any airport in the country.

"We applaud the FAA for extending the current slot allocation system ... so that travelers at our airports will not be unduly inconvenienced," said Pasquale DiFulco, a spokesman for the Port Authority, which manages LaGuardia. He was quoted in the New York Daily News.
