AD: The Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-01-08

PRODUCT: All The Boeing Company Model 737-100, -200, -200C, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY:  This AD was prompted by reports of fatigue cracking in the frame outboard chord and in the radius of the auxiliary chord at a certain area.

This AD requires inspections to detect this cracking, and corrective action if necessary.

DATES: This AD is effective February 16, 2018

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 160 airplanes of U.S. registry. The cost of compliance is estimated to be $510 per aircraft for Detailed and High Frequency Eddy Current (HFEC) inspections for labor. The cost of one-time follow-on HFEC inspection is estimated to be $765 per aircraft for labor. The cost of compliance for HFEC inspection is estimated to be $765 for labor.
