NTSB Sends Team To Investigate Plane Crash Near Moab, Utah
A tragic accident, reportedly
occurring during departure, has brought down a King Air 100 and
killed all 10 persons on board.
The Beech King Air A-100 (file photo below) is reported to have
impacted the ground close to the runway shortly after departure,
Friday evening, from the Canyonlands Field airport, approximately
18 miles northwest of Moab. The aircraft impacted among nearby
hills, where it was said to have burned on impact.
Grand County Sheriff James Nyland told media agencies that,
"It's just weird. I mean, something happened to make this guy veer
left off the runway."
The aircraft was being used to shuttle employees of the
Southwest Skin and Cancer/Red Canyon Aesthetics & Medical Spa.
The dermatology company travels to 'remote areas' to provide
treatment for skin cancer and other ailments.
Confirmed as dead were pilot David White; the company's
director, Dr. Lansing Ellsworth, 50, and his son Dallin Ellsworth,
23; David Goddard, 60, and his daughter Cecilee Goddard, 31; Mandy
Johnson; Marcie Tillery, 29; Valerie Imlay, 52; Keith Shumway, 29;
and Camie Vigil, 25.
The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team to
investigate an airplane accident in a remote area about 3 miles
south of the Canyonlands Field Airport (CNY) near Moab, Utah. The
Beech A100 King Air (N601PC) crashed at about 6:15 p.m. MDT last
night. The airplane was destroyed by fire. Several fatalities have
been reported.
NTSB Investigator Tealeye Corneyo has been designated as
Investigator-in-Charge and will lead the two-member team.
