Tiny UAV Offers First Person Video

Axis Vidius Would Not Require FAA Registration

A tiny quadcopter that is capable of first person video as well as capturing images and 420p video during flight is available for pre-order from Axis Drones.

The Vidius drone is just an inch and a half on each side and less than an inch tall, which the company says makes it the world's smallest first person view UAV. It will stream video to your iOS or Android device, and the app will share the video with popular social media sites.

One of the primary points being made by the company is its pre-order web page is that the tiny UAV weighs less than 250 grams, and therefore does not require registration with the FAA.

The Vidius claims a 5-7 minute flight time up to 100 feet away from its 2.4 gHz controller. It can also be controlled through a smartphone or tablet. It is rechargeable through a USB cable, which takes about 20 minutes the company says.

The pre-order sale price for Vidius is $75 through January 7, at which point the price jumps to $95. The company claims a shipping date for pre-ordered UAVs of January 29th at the latest.
