Museum Acquires Last Buckeye to Make Carrier Landing

T-2C To Reside At National Museum of Naval Aviation

The National Museum of Naval Aviation acquired the last T-2C Buckeye to make a carrier landing, April 9.

The aircraft made the final T-2 arrested landing aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), July 25.

"I am proud to be able to present this aircraft to the museum so that others can see this milestone in naval aviation history," said Capt. Daniel Ouimette, commodore of Training Wing 1, Naval Air Station Meridian (MS).

The T-2 Buckeye has been used for intermediate and advanced training for Navy and Marine Corps pilots and naval flight officers in training for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions.

Most T-2 Buckeyes have already been replaced by the T-45 Goshawk. It is expected that NAS Meridian will completely transition from the T-2 Buckeye to the T-45 Goshawk in August. At NAS Pensacola, the T-2 Buckeye will remain in service for about another year.
