Flight Design Ships First CTLS Aircraft

Airtime Aviation Receives Three Planes

Flight Design USA tells ANN the company recently delivered its first three new CTLS aircraft to a US distributor. In late February, orders placed at January's Sebring US Sport Aviation Expo were received following ocean shipment and clearing of customs and security.

"Our distributor, Airtime Aviation based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, received their first shipment of three Flight Design CTLS aircraft on February 28," said National Sales Director Ken Godin. "After a busy weekend in their shop, they got all three assembled, certified, and flying by March 3."

Airtime Aviation has a dozen units of the new model on order. The father-and-son team is America's largest Light-Sport Aircraft distributorship, according to Flight Design. As ANN reported, in 2007 Airtime had the distinction of selling CT #200 in the USA, which coincidentally happened to be their 50th CT sale.

Tom Gutmann Jr., who spent several hours in the CTLS at Sebring doing demonstration flights, said he's quite happy with the new model's handling characteristics.
"I finally had the chance to fly the LS in smooth air!" he said, in reference to the gusty, bumpy conditions that existed throughout much of the January event, where the CTLS was formally unveiled.

"It flies like a dream, I love it!" Gutmann added.

As Flight Design has built its national network, it has gradually opened up new territories for dealers. "We took it slow, to make sure we got it right," said Flight Design USA President Tom Peghiny. "Now that our CTSW is complimented by the all-new CTLS, we are ready to open additional opportunities for dealerships in selected areas." All new dealers will work through the company's existing distributors. Interested existing aviation businesses or entrepreneurs can contact Flight Design USA for available territories.

Flight Design USA is the US importer of the CT series from Germany. The company has delivered over 240 aircraft to its network of distributors and dealers. One of the first Light-Sport Aircraft certified under ASTM standards, the carbon fiber CT is the best-selling LSA in America. More than 1,000 CT models are flying around the globe.
