AUVSI Holding Webinars On Operating Drones Safely And Responsibly

Educational Program Is Part Of National Drone Safety Awareness Week

National Drone Safety Awareness Week is underway, and the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) is hosting a series of webinars to highlight how members of the drone industry are using the technology to engage with their communities. Each day of the week is devoted to a specific theme on how to operate drones safely and responsibly.

The webinars will focus on different aspects of the industry and include personal stories, successful case studies, and educational events and programs to engage with the public and help spread awareness about how drones are delivering value and benefits. Below is the full list of AUVSI webinars taking place during National Drone Safety Week.

Tuesday, Nov. 5 - Business – Photography, Real Estate and Insurance

Webinar: Flying Like A Pro: Knowing the Law and Maintaining Safe Practices, 9 to 10 a.m. EST

This webinar will outline the rules guiding commercial operations and best practices for safe flight. Join AUVSI leaders for a tutorial in adhering to Part 107 and maintaining airmanship principles.

Wednesday, Nov. 6 - Business – Infrastructure and Agriculture

Webinar: The challenges of autonomous flying and Urban Air Mobility, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST

A panel of autonomous systems experts will review the opportunities and challenges of the technology and how a new approach to digitalization and simulation is instrumental to accelerate the development and certification of self-flying systems.

Thursday, Nov. 7 - Business – Commercial and Medical Package Delivery

Webinar: Drones and the Future of Infrastructure Inspection, 2 to 3 p.m. EST

Drone industry experts and end users will discuss the many ways in which drones have improved inspection capabilities. Operators will share stories from the field, highlighting use cases and discussing what they’ve learned since embracing drones.

Friday, Nov. 8 - Education and STEM

Webinar: How Drones are Being Used in Education and STEM Programs, 3 to 4 p.m. EST

Various institutions have implemented drones into their STEM education, and this webinar will look at the response, struggles and successes of these programs.

Saturday, Nov. 9 - Recreational Flyers

Webinar: Building the Safety Case: How to Identify and Mitigate Risk with Drones, 9 to 10 a.m. EST
During this webinar, UAS operators and training experts will discuss safety regulations and strategies to mitigate risk when flying in diverse conditions.

Monday's webinar dealt with Drones and Public Safety. It was a discussion on how law enforcement, fire rescue, and emergency management professionals are operating UAS safely and smartly in the national airspace system for a variety of public safety missions.

Admission to all the webinars is free and open to the media. A calendar of events and programs by AUVSI and other organizations that are scheduled across the nation throughout the week to demonstrate the importance of drone safety is also available online.
