Air France Cancels Another Rio To Paris Flight

Sunday Incident Was The 4th In Eight Days

Air France says it was forced to cancel a flight from Rio to Paris on Sunday morning due to an electrical problem with the airplane. The cancellation is the 4th incident involving an Air France jet in South America in eight days.

The cancellation came before the flight and its 170 passengers departed from Rio. The problem with the airplane's electronics was detected before departure, and the flight was re-scheduled for Sunday night. Air Spokesperson Leticia Lyra did not provide any further details.

The Associated Press reports that an Air France flight from Sao Paulo to Paris was canceled on Thursday because of slight damage to the aircraft's fuselage, and that another flight on the Rio to Paris route two days earlier had to return to Brazil due to problems with its lavatories. The forth incident involved a bomb threat against one of Air France's airplanes on that route, which forced the crew to make an emergency landing in the northeastern portion of Brazil.
